Bibliotherapy

There is a growing evidence base that therapeutic writing and reading can support people with long-term physical health conditions as well as improving mental health.

Therapy Sessions

All of our bibliotherapy team are qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. They are members of accredited organisations such as the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, or National Counselling Society or the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and they have also been trained in our inhouse training programme.

You can choose to work one to one via booked therapy sessions and via messaging your counsellor through the platform. We'll always try and fit sessions in at the right time for you.

How do we work?

We offer a 12 session- model of one-to-one chat with messaging in between. Sometimes you might need more sessions and sometimes less. It's something you will discuss with your bibliotherapist.

We work in a trauma informed way, where safety, choice, collaboration, trust and empowerment are key. Setting your goals, building trust and actively engaging you in the work alongside developing your confidence and helping you reframe your internal and external worlds are some of the activities you'll do in this work. There will be some skills building and strategic thinking as well. You can choose to meet weekly or fortnightly and your bibliotherapist will suggest activities in between sessions.

If there is anything you don't understand, you can always ask us.
